Tips and Tricks For Dealing With Acne

Dealing with Acne: Tips, Tricks, and Habits for Clearer Skin

Everyday, someone across the globe wakes up with a zit (or two). While some of us suffer from hormonal or fungal acne, some are more susceptible to whiteheads and blackheads, or even nodules/cysts (and maybe all of the above)!

For a lot of people, dealing with acne and pimples can be hard. It can impact you mentally, emotionally, and physically at any point in your life. Instead of dwelling on it, we have to look to the future; what can we do to help our acne?

We can’t recommend a specific skin care routine because everyone is different, we have different skin types, different needs, different pimples! What we can do is recommend tips, products, and habits to try out.

Wash Your Pillowcases 1-2 Times Per Week

This might seem like a random suggestion, but every night our faces rest on pillows for up to 8 hours. Different types of microbes might be resting next to you when you sleep, which can create acne/zits on your face. We wash our faces, so we should wash our pillowcases! We recommend at least once a week on a hot cycle to destroy any leftover bacterias.

Don’t Pick, Pop, or Squeeze - Patch!

Whilst a big whitehead on your face might be tempting, is it worth the scarring? Those 30 seconds of satisfaction are slowly replaced by blood, scabbing, and hyper-pigmentation. Instead, pop on a patch and let the zit settle in its own time, leaving you fresh faced.

Depending on your needs, we have plenty of options at AbsorbZit.

  • VIP - microneedle patches, created to penetrate pimples at the root. Designed for day or night use, these patches help to not only minimise the appearance of blemishes, but ensure there is little inflammation which helps speed up the healing process.
  • The Overnight - slightly thicker option, perfect for tackling those unwanted zits whilst you sleep. With a stickier feel, these patches will stay on all night whilst targeting the desired area, reducing redness and inflammation, protecting from contamination, and flattening zits!
  • The Everyday - our virtually invisible, ultra-thin patch is perfect for anytime, any place where. These patches can be worn under makeup or hidden in plain sight on the skin! These patches also help reduce any irritation on the skin, redness, and inflammation - all whilst being discreet!

Find the Skin Care Routine That Works for You

Every skin type can be affected by acne, not just oily skin, so finding the best routine can’t just be suggested online. Unfortunately, there is a lot of trial and error involved in finding the best routine for you. Here are some steps to help you find your best routine:

  • Cleanser: removes dirt and oil.
  • Toner: rebalances the skin's pH.
  • Exfoliation: removes dead skin cells and impurities.
  • Serums: depending on the option you choose, serums can hydrate, smooth, plump, firm, exfoliate, or brighten.
  • Treatments: can be added for your night routine, helping remove bacteria and rebalancing oil production.
  • Oils: provide deep hydration and nourishment to the skin with lasting moisture.
  • Retinol: can be added for your night routine to help improve skin texture, unclog pores, or treat hyperpigmentation.
  • Eye Cream: reduces signs of aging whilst hydrating the skin.
  • Face Masks: depending on your skin type’s needs, face masks can have lots of purposes, such as hydration, unclogging pores, exfoliation, and so on.

Moisturiser and SPF Are Your Best Friends

Finding the best face wash, serums, and treatments for your skin is great, but the last two steps are arguably the most important. To keep your skin looking glowy, healthy, and protected, you have to use moisturiser and SPF! Any kind that works best with your skin type is great, but make sure to have at least SPF 30 (ideally 50) to keep your skin protected from UV rays year round.

Look Inwards

Whilst taking precautions based on the skin is great and will definitely help with acne, some spots come as a result of diet. Unfortunately, some of your favourite foods can cause irritation to our skin such as dairy (yes, that includes chocolate), sugary drinks, white rice/white bread, fast food (burgers, hot dogs, chips, nuggets), and even caffeine and alcohol. Reducing intake of these items can really help make a difference.

Conclusion

At AbsorbZit, we’re here for you. Whatever the pimple may be, our products can help with absorbing any excess oil and impurities, all whilst reducing the appearance of the zit itself. Our products would be a great next step in your skin care routine - give it a go! Let us know what you think.
